What We Do
Newtrax exists to provide group transportation services to specialty groups, including our key partners, throughout the Metro of the Twin Cities.
Newtrax is a nonprofit collaborative organization that provides daily transportation from home to work and back for over 600 adults with disabilities in the Northeast Metro. We own a fleet of more than 40 vehicles, most of which have a lift-gate feature. We run our own dispatch center and maintenance garage. We reach out to help coordinate events with other employers, area faith communities, senior living communities and group homes where transportation is a barrier. In addition, we offer Information Technology, Financial Analysis, and other back-office services.
Newtrax was founded by member organizations Merrick, Inc. and PAI, Inc. Both are non-profit organizations that provide vocational and life enrichment services to adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Most importantly, we are professionals who are passionate about removing barriers to under-served populations.
In 2011, leaders at Merrick and PAI identified that the process they used to transport clients wasn’t as efficient and effective as it could be. In fact, both organizations would often go to the same home and pick up people at about the same time to bring them to program sites less than 2 miles apart. Now with Newtrax, one vehicle arrives at the home and transports clients to both organizations.
Today we are expanding our transportation services beyond our current member organizations and serve our communities in added ways. From providing services within our senior communities to helping hospitals and healthcare facilities coordinate transportation to transitional care facilities, we are adding valuable options. Thinking about retiring your service vehicle? We can walk you through how our services will save you time, money, and company resources that will affect your budget in a positive way.
